Meredith Showacre is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the Judson College in Marion, Alabama and her Master of Arts in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Meredith has over 4 years of experience working with children, adults and families in behavioral health settings. She began her career providing Individual and Group Therapy services at Hillcrest Behavioral Hospital working with children, adolescents as well as the adult population. Meredith completed her counseling licensure while working at A Center for Eating Disorders, a partial hospitalization program in Birmingham, Alabama. Meredith also participates in co-leading Strong Girls, a bi-weekly group designed especially for girls age 12-18. Strong Girls integrates mind-body awareness through experiential activities, expressive movement, art, and poetry. Looking to expand her practice, Meredith joined the Behavioral ONE team in the Winter of 2018.

Meredith enjoys working with a wide range of children, adolescent and adult needs including: ADHD, Adjustment Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Behavioral Disorders, Depressive Disorders, Eating Disorders and Trauma Related Issues.

Meredith is skilled in utilizing: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive therapy, and believes that healing can happen in the telling of your personal narrative.

Meredith is currently working towards her Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Certification. She anticipates completing her Certification in late 2019.
