Summer Programs
During the Summer Break, Behavioral ONE offers several Social Skills small groups and classes daily. Our Social Skills instruction and small groups are designed to address specific areas of concern, deficits, skill acquisition, and self awareness. We utilize evidence-based curriculums and strategies specific to the focus of the group in order to facilitate and guide high quality instruction. Groups and classes are kept small to promote quality instruction focused on each child's individual needs and goals. Space is limited and groups are assigned based on your child's age, developmental level,  and functional level.  Information about our specific groups can be found below.
Impulse Control and Decision Making

Curriculum, instruction, and activities for this small group are specifically chosen to focus on acquiring the skills and knowledge as it relates to impulse control, over activity, poor decision making, difficultly paying attention, and conflict resolution.

The sessions will utilize two evidence-based curriculums to guide instruction and facilitate growth and improvement in your child's behavior and decision-making.

Instruction will focus on increasing self-awareness and promoting self-regulation in your child's behavior and decision-making in order to build a foundation for developing and utilizing the skills necessary to be more successful. Once the foundation is established, sessions will then focus on skill acquisition and application. Specific evidence-based strategies will be utilized to teach, reinforce, and practice new adaptive skills and behaviors.

Sessions are designed for children ages 5-8 and 9-12. Students will be assigned to groups based on their age and developmental level. Group sizes will range from 3-5 students per group to allow for individualized instruction and feedback, as well as a 2:1 student to teacher ratio.

Participation Requirements: Due to the nature of the curriculums and skills taught, we have several requirements for participation that are specific to this small group. These requirements insure that the small group remains beneficial and productive to all children who participate.   Please call us if you have concerns regaring your child's ability to participate independently in the groups.  We offer several solutions and alternatives depending on your specific situation.

2018 Session Times and Dates: Classes will occur at Behavioral ONE's clinic for 45 minutes per day, Monday thru Thursday. We are offering two sessions during the summer

June Session:  May 29th to June 28th

July Session:  July 9th to August 8th

In addition to the small group classes, instruction, and materials, each session includes a pre-session consultation to identify your specific concerns and goals, as well as a post-session consultation to review your child's progress and develop a plan to facilitate generalization of the skills and continued progress. Additionally, take home materials and parent-training materials on the evidence-based curriculums and strategies will be provided.
Classroom Routine and Social Interaction

This small group is designed and implemented following the morning routine and schedule for typical pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. Activities are specifically chosen to focus on improving the skills needed to increase your child's participation and involvement in the classroom.  Instruction and materials are presented utilizing the principles and practices of Applied Behavioral Analysis, with a focus on skill acquisition as well as a reduction in problem behavior and the barriers to learning.

Each session will include a circle time lesson, craft or table lesson, and group snack that are all coordinated around a consistent theme and instructional goals.
